How do I find inactive/unused channels with Chronicle?
Chronicle provides three primary features to help find inactive or unused channels in your Slack workspace on the “Channels” page in Chronicle’s dashboard.:
- Inactive Channel Scanner: The inactive channel scanner lives in the web dashboard and provides an interactive way to view when each of your channels last had activity and an easy way to bulk archive these channels.
- Scheduled Inactive Channel Reports: Chronicle can automatically prepare and send reports regularly to the Slack #chronicles channel, letting you and other admins know when channels become inactive. This allows you to quickly act upon the results and archive channels as they become inactive. You can enable and configure this feature under “Automatic Channel Archiver” within the “Channels” page in Chronicle’s dashboard.
- Inactive Channel Notifications: Upon discovering an inactive channel, the Chronicle can automatically alert you or that channel, letting you know that the channel is inactive. After a period elapses without activity, the channel will be automatically archived. Channel members or workspace admins can configure the archival process on a per-channel basis via Slack alerts. You can enable and configure this feature under “Automatic Channel Archiver” within the “Channels” page in Chronicle’s dashboard.
