Why wasn't I alerted before a channel was archived?

If you're seeing channels archived by Chronicle without prior warning, there are a couple of likely explanations:

Notifications are configured to skip the inactive channel itself: Inactive channel notifications can be configured to alert admins in #chronicles without sending a message to the inactive channel itself. Channel notification settings live on the Channels page of Chronicle's dashboard, under Automatic Archiver Advanced Options → Where to send notifications. If you want a warning posted in the inactive channel before Chronicle archives it, make sure this is set to send to the inactive channel.

An admin archived the channel manually: An admin may have explicitly archived the channel through Chronicle's dashboard, or by archiving channels listed in an Inactive Channel Report.
