How to monitor private Slack channels
Chronicle can monitor private channels for messages and inactivity, as long as the Chronicle bot is invited to each private channel you'd like to monitor. This requirement comes from how the Slack API works, and it also keeps things transparent, since channel members can see when Chronicle has been added.
Note: You must be a member of a private channel to add Chronicle to it.
Option 1: Use the /invite command (desktop or mobile)
- Open the private channel you'd like Chronicle to monitor.
- In the message field, type
/invite @Chronicleand send it. - Slack will post a confirmation in the channel once Chronicle has been added.
Option 2: Mention Chronicle in the channel
- Open the private channel you'd like Chronicle to monitor.
- Type
@Chroniclein the message field and send the message. - When Slack asks whether you'd like to add Chronicle to the channel, click Add Them.
Option 3: Add Chronicle from the channel settings (desktop)
- Open the private channel you'd like Chronicle to monitor.
- Click the channel name at the top of the conversation to open the channel details.
- Select the Agents and apps tab.
- Select Add Agent or App.
- Search for Chronicle and click Add.
